Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome
Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome is Hiroshima's best-known symbol and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I was born and grew up in Hiroshima and never left my home town until I came to Hawaii in 1997. First time I visited Hiroshima memorial park, I was only 9 years old and was very scared to see what happened in 1945. I rarely visited there since then. We had "peace class" every once a while at elementary school and teacher showed us the films of Hiroshima right after the atomic bomb which filmed by US military. My father was 14 and living about 30km from the Bomb dome and saw the huge smokes rose up to the sky from the Hiroshima city.
I usually don't have much time when I go home. But since the economy is not great, I had a lots of free time so I went to the peace park in the very cloudy day. That's why it kind of looks scary. The park is beautiful. There are many sakura trees along the river and we have lots of parties under the trees when the cherry blooms.
